Soul Singer Solomon Burke Has Died

Soul singer Solomon Burke Born on March 21, 1940 in Philadelphia, who wrote "Everybody Needs Somebody To Love" and recorded the hit "Cry To Me" used in the movie "Dirty Dancing," has died at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. Legendary Atlantic Records producer Jerry Wexler once called Burke, "the best soul singer of all time." The Associated Press

Solomon Burke was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and won a Grammy in 2002. His music has been performed by such artists such as Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, the Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen.
