Eminem 60 Minutes - Shared More of His Young Life

Eminem 60 Minutes - Shared More of His Young Life
Did anyone check out the Eminem interview on 60 Minutes this week? The only kind of awkward moment was when Anderson Cooper asked Eminem if he did or did not like gay people, a rather timely question considering the recent series of suicides prompted by homophobic bullying.

As the introduction for Eminem's "60 Minutes" interview noted, the MC's rise to prominence transcends the hip-hop genre. Em, who repeated ninth grade three times before quitting school altogether, said that despite his poor marks he was always good at English, and copped to trolling the dictionary for new words to keep in his lyrical arsenal. The MC also revealed how he stores many of his rhymes, opening a large box teeming with scraps of paper covered in scrawled lyrics.

Although the Grammy-winning, multiplatinum MC has captivated the ears of listeners around the world with his rhymes — breaking records and changing the face of hip-hop in the process — Em admitted that he was the target of schoolyard taunts as a kid.
Later, he found solace in hip-hop and his ability to spit, despite his tough upbringing and status as the lone white kid in the underground rap haunts he once frequented.

Em also admitted that his race did make things harder when he was working the underground circuit.
If I had nothing, I'd find my kids. So, there's no excuse."

"I'm a parent; I have daughters," Em explained. Em also talked about being two hours away from death when he overdosed years ago and revealed that his Detroit Home and Home Tour stop with Jay-Z was the first stadium show he ever played sober.

Eminem shared more of his young life. He was raised by a single mom, living hand to mouth and moving often. Eminem took that pretty well…I gasped!

If kids start using the bad words from his songs, he feels it’s their parents who have to parent them, it’s not his responsibility.

Chicago / New York, 10 October. Albertina Walker, known as the queen of gospel, died Friday at a hospital in Chicago, his hometown, at age 81, after more than six decades devoted to the music, reported the Washington Post.

It is difficult to assimilate the word gospel without mentioning Albertina Walker, friend and confidant protected Mahalia Jackson, the legend of this genre.

The singer, who recorded over 60 albums, founded 22 years of age his own gospel group called The Caravan, which was very successful in the 50's of last century and a springboard for many stars.

At that time these musicians have suffered racism. In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Walker said that on one occasion threatened to slit the throat of a bus driver insulted.

"But everything I had in the bag was a pen. However, he was so frightened he apologized and called me young lady," he said then.

Albertina was born in 1929. At age four she started singing in the choir of the Baptist church in West Point, under the direction of Professor Pete Williams. At that time the black church was at the heart of this cultural awakening and gospel music slowly gained acceptance in other temples through the efforts of people like Thomas A. Dorsey, Sallie Martin, Kenneth Morris, Rosetta Thorpe, Mahalia Jackson and Albertina.

His group consisted Caravans Elyse Yancy, Nellie Grace Daniels and Hopkins OraLee Samson, who achieved success with pieces like Sweeping Through The City, Mary Do not You Weep, Walk Around Heaven and Lord Keep Me Day By Day.

Then came his triumph with his first solo project Put a Little Love in Your Heart, in 1975. Since then, his appearances at various venues around the world have been numerous. He sang for former U.S. presidents George Bush, Bill Clinton, and the Nobel Peace Prize and former South African president Nelson Mandela.
